Haircuts

Great haircut are a good investment. A good shape makes it easier for you to style your hair between trims. Remember that keeping your bangs trim will keep your haircut looking fresh for a very long time. At Eliegante Hair Design & Spa and most hairdressers will be happy to cut Guest’s’ bangs for no charge any time. If that’s not the case, you can cut your own bangs or slither off. Ask me or your stylists when you’re in the salon next time .When cutting bangs, always follow the line your presently have. Do not try to make bangs thicker or wider; this takes a skilled professional. Cut your bangs long. They will pop up shorter than you expect after you’ve cut them.

The retro glam trend is picking up steam in and around Hollywood…and all over the country! We’ve seen this trend recently on various singers and actresses, most often done with a deep side part and sleek waves, and polished makeup and an uber-glam gown to complete the look. We saw it pop up on a few celebs at the CMAs earlier this month and now, just this week at the American Music Awards, as seen here on Selena Gomez. Want to get Selena’s look?the steps to recreate her style…plus the steps for another version of this hot look as seen on Jenny McCarthy.

4. Once hair has cooled, remove clips, and if need be, curl some sections with a medium barrel curling iron. Apply a few drops of a shine serum.

BEAUTY

BEAUTY
I have been inspired by recent images of Prince William’s new wife, Catherine.  Her hair always looks so conditioned and well behaved.  So it should, considering that she does get a blow dry once a week and exactly every six weeks has a trim.  I have decided that I can also have Catherine’s good hair.  I just need to learn to make some time in my busy schedule to do some basics and I can start by trying to protect my hair this Summer from sun damage.

Hair can often look and feel like straw during the Summer.  What does not help is the build up of salt, sand and chlorine as a result of fun in the sun on holidays.  At Eliegante we carre a line of products by Phyto Plage that will help care for my hair this Summer.  I am already a fan of the Phyto hair relaxing balm.  I am hoping that the Hair and Body Wash as well as the Protective Sun Veil will also have me impressed and wanting to see how our guestes will trat there hair this summer  rather than attempting to hide it in shame.

The moisturising Hair and Body Wash gently washes the skin and hair (extract of bamboo marrow, oil of candlenut, wood cellulose). It eliminates the build-up of salt, chlorine, sand and sun products. The hydrolipidic film is reconstructed and the hair’s fibers are moisturised.

– Facilitates detangling
– Leaves hair supple and shiny
– Leaves skin satiny soft

The Protective Sun Veil forms an invisible screen that protects the hair from the damaging drying effects of the sun, salt and chlorine. Provides a UV filter.

– Spray on dry or wet hair before and during sun exposure
– Invisible protective screen
– Does not leave hair greasy
– May be used as a hair styling product, both at the beach and in the city.

These Phyto Plage products are priced at a very reasonable prices and can be purchased @ Eliegante Hair Design & Spa  5288 Upper James Strret Hamilton ontario or visite or web site @ www.eliegante.com or call us 905-575-9835

Bridal Beauty Trends 2011

Bridal Beauty Trends 2011     What bridal beauty trends do you think you’ll want to do for your big day? How did you do your hair and makeup on your wedding day?  Forget Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter – wedding season is my favourite season of the year! It’s April but most Stylist like me are gearing up for another busy year of bridal beauty. There is just something about brides – the wedding dress, the hair, the makeup, the excitement – no matter what your physical attributes brides all look stunning on their big day!

If you’re walking the aisle this year and you’re not sure how you should do your hair or if a Smokey eye is appropriate, you’ll want to read up on the latest bridal beauty trends for 2011. Here are some of my favourite and inspiring looks of the season!
Retro-Modern Eliegante
Carolina HerraraThe Carolina Herrara show was full of inspiration! I love the Elieganteand simplicity of the hair and makeup. It’s simple but with the gorgeous us we say in frensh LA SIMPLICITÉ FAIS LA BEAUTE, calla lilies (one of my favourite flowers) the look has a modern feel to it. The hair is pulled low and slightly to the side with volume at the top. I love how the calla lilies peek through on the side. This would be gorgeous with an asymmetrical or off-the-should gown. I LOVE IT Carolina HerraraBlack liner will be a huge trend for this wedding season. It’s just so Eliegante, polished, and finishes the eye without adding a lot of colour. The skin isn’t dewy but luminous with a flawless finish. The lips have a nice creamy coral finish. I like the coral shade because it’s so fresh for Spring/Summer weddings. The brows are also prominent and a must for this polished look.    Carolina HerreraI love the flapper ’20’s feel of this faux bob look. The waves and the finish of the hair is loose making it look more modern. The freshness of the makeup also gives it a more modern twist. If you have long hair and don’t want to have it completely off your face then this is a great alternative.
Earthy and All-Natural          If you love boho-chic then this is a look for you. Everything about it is so ethereal. I love this look for brides doing a destination wedding on a beach. If you’re also not a tiara or veil type of gal, this is a great choice. Loose waves are a must for this look. The makeup is gorgeous! For the most part, the overall look is very sheer but the smoky definition along the bottom of the eyes gives this soft look a bit of edge. But even though the eyes are given definition, remember to smudge the liner to compliment the overall softness.       This is a classic look that would be stunning on just about anyone. I love the glowing skin and effortless hair. This is another look perfect for a beach wedding. The waves are loose and flowing. I love that one side is pulled back while the other side has some waves framing the face. I always thought that a flower or hair clip should only be placed on the side that is pulled back, but the flower on the other side totally works.

. I love a Smokey look but am delighted when a bride wants to try it in a colour. This season you’ll be seeing it in gorgeous violet and steely-blue tones like on the bride pictured above.

Red lips will never go out of style and are back for this wedding season. It’s a classic. This Spring the red is more vibrant, but for your wedding day you’ll want to skip the trends and go with a shade of red that suits your skin tone. Those with fair to medium skin should choose a true red with blue undertones. Those with medium-dark and olive skin tones should go with a warm red like brick or red-orange. Tan to dark skin should stick to deeper shades of red in wine or burgundy.

No matter what the trends are, in the end always choose to look like YOU! Use the trends to enhance your natural beauty and never let the hair or makeup wear you. 😉

Go Darker

Going a bit darker usually suits most blond’s more than going lighter does (a la Jennifer Aniston), so try out a semi- or demi permanent shade first before fully committing to it.
Hold On to Your Blond
Cleansing with blond-specific shampoos and their matching conditioners will help you love your color longer. (They are formulated with a gentler pH level than traditional versions.)
We USE AND RECOMMEND : PAULMITCHEL , PHYTO, Bumble & bumble

You Love Being Blond

November-20-10

Whether your golden locks are natural or you work hard at maintaining that most famous of hair colors, you’ve likely considered giving different blond intensities a whirl. But before you decide to go lighter or darker, remember the top rule of hair color change: The farther you stray from your current color, the more damaged your hair will be. Overall, pros advise remaining within two levels (the scale by which hair color is measured) in either direction. “When you go too far, the hair texture that you feel today will be gone tomorrow,” warns

Blond: Go Lighter

Before doing anything else, consider your skin tone. If you’re fair-skinned, don’t go too light to avoid looking washed out or tired. Do you have medium to dark skin with olive undertones? Then choose shades that are described as “cool.” Next, how long do you want this new color to stick around? Permanent color lasts until the next time you dye it, demipermanent color lasts about a month, and semipermanent color lasts approximately a week.
